Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

[edit] Overall

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure was a reboot to the Spyro series in 2011 and began the Skylanders franchise.

[edit] Initial Release

The game was released in a starter pack for the gaming systems 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and the Wii. The starter pack comes with the Portal of Power (which sends the characters into the game), three figures (the 3DS pack comes with Dark Spyro, Ignitor, and Stealth Elf, while the consoles come with Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gill Grunt), and the game.

[edit] Gameplay

The game has 24 levels which center around the Skylanders' army defeating the evil Portal Master Kaos in the fantasy land of Skylands. Spyro is the leader of the Skylanders and fights with them, but otherwise, Spyro has nothing much to do with the actual game's story.

It is a platformer game with collectibles in every level (Soulgems, Treasure Chests, Winged Sapphires, etc). You have to find all eight of the elemental sources to repair the Core of Light, the thing that powers all of Skylands and keeps the Darkness (the evil in Skylands) at bay. Eon was the Portal Master before the player, but is killed by Kaos (but comes back as a spiritual head).

[edit] Connections to The Legend of Spyro Series

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure seems to follow Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx after the ending of Dawn of the Dragon. In Dawn of the Dragon, it was said that Spyro and Cynder flew off to a new land (this could easily mean Skylands).

Sparx is a Magic Item in the series, and Cynder is a playable Skylander.

[edit] Skylanders Army

In Spyro's Adventure, there were 32 different Skylanders. Skylanders also had elements (much like dragons controlled elements in the original series). Spyro is a Magic Element here, despite shooting fire (which would make him seem like a Fire Element).

There are eight elements in all. Magic, Tech, Undead, Life, Fire, Water, Air, and Earth, and there is one dragon for every element.

  • Magic: Spyro
  • Undead: Cynder
  • Tech: Drobot
  • Life: Camo
  • Fire: Sunburn
  • Water: Zap
  • Air: Whirlwind
  • Earth: Bash

There were also many Chase Figures, or special figures. These included:

  • Blue Bash
  • Clear Cynder
  • Clear Stealth Elf
  • Clear Wham-Shell
  • Chrome Silver Spyro

[edit] Game Exclusive Figures

Dino-Rang, Warnado, Camo, Ghost Roaster, Sunburn, Wham-Shell, Voodood, and Boomer were not carried over to Giants and recreated. Instead, they are only Series 1 figures and are compatible with the Giants game.
